Our July Edition took place on Saturday, July 17th, 2004.

Huge thanks are in order to all of you for making the effort to come to Anger In Chicago’s July SKOM Edition. Thanks for dedicating the time to our little growing chapter in its second year. Thanks for coming all the way from Wisconsin Christina, thanks to everyone else coming from the far North, South and Western suburbs. Thanks for coming by bus, trains whatever it took to get to our meeting/party/get together in July. Thanks for bringing beer, Jager, snacks etc. Thanks for supporting us with cash for more liquor and food. Putting forth your time, effort and resources to us means so much.

Every month or so we try to provide the people that have decided to join our local chapter or check us out to see if they want to be a part of our local with a sanctuary. A place to let loose for a few hours and enjoy some Metallica community. Our culture has become one of celebration of what we love. We party while enjoying the music and videos of Metallica. It’s different for everyone the way that they celebrate. Some may kick back, relax, enjoy a beverage and take in some videos that they have not ever seen before or appreciate something that they have seen or heard before while watching others tear up HQ with a small mosh-pit. We have got it all. I really get geared-up watching everyone sing out loud as if they are at a concert. Singing along came early and often this month. I thought it would take a while for people to relax but it was still daylight and people were yelling out the words of songs together, high-fiving etc.

We actually almost had a regular meeting this Edition. The meeting moment came and went when Bruce Sinofsky, director of Metallica Some Kind of Monster, called in to share some current movie promotion news. We all had our ears glued during the call as Bruce let us know what was going on and encouraged AIC to promote in Chicago. Sadly our greatest AIC and SKOM promotion person, Marj, didn’t make it to be a part of the call. We thank Marj for her unending vigor with promotion ideas. We all should hope to be as enthusiastic when it comes to befriending someone and offering them a flyer to see the movie at the end of July or invite them to check out what is becoming a great chapter of the Metallica Club. It was only appropriate that Marj was the grand AIC SKOM prize winner taking home the EP from the raffle.

Congrats to Melissa and Kyle for deciding to take the plunge and accept AIC membership. Officially the 20th and 21st members we have ever had since our inception.

Thanks to little Nicky, Keidra and Kristen for coming to check us out for the first time and again for some. We hope you enjoyed yourselves and invite you to return and eventually be a part of our Metallica family.

I must mention some other AIC heroes of the day. Gabriella worked hard to bring us all a great slide show which ran nearly all night in concert with Metallica music. It was great to see memories of the first year plus of AIC on screen along with everything possible Metallica. It was better than just the music playing. We had something visual to remind us of all of the pleasurable things Metallica has offered us over the years and a reminder of all the silly and fun things we in AIC have done. I promise the slide show will be something that returns every edition and is progressive with the addition of more Tallica pix and AIC moments!

Our AIC party warrior of the day award goes to Kyle for turning up the party with his tremendous Metallica spirit. I can’t remember ever not seeing Kyle singing, moshing or high-fiving someone. I also can’t remember him ever passing on a shot when offered which may explain why he was the first AIC member to crash. Big metal horns-up to you Kyle.

Real Jager from Germany was a real treat. Thanks Mike. We broke another record this edition with the consumption of five Jagermeister bottles, up one bottle from the previous record of four in June. I am certain that this will be ever progressive to each edition.

I noticed that folks stayed longer than ever. (And Jeff stayed awake longer than ever, too! --Dave) That indicates that people were enjoying themselves. All over HQ I understand. Inside, outside, upstairs, in the yard, in the living room. I guess these are AIC’s versions of break-out groups.

I hope that everyone enjoyed all the prizes, refreshments, entertainment and company of each other. We hope to do an August Edition that will very-much need to be a meeting. With half a dozen shows coming up in the second part of August we will use the time to communicate what we can do as chapter members to promote AIC at the shows. Car-pooling and last minute ticket-exchanging will be discussed as well. Saturday, August 14th. looks like a probable date. Stay tuned for details.
Our next meeting is planned for August. Stay tuned for details! Contact us if you would like to attend, or to learn more!
