Our January Chapter Edition took place on Saturday, January 10th, 2004.
What Chicagoland needed, or at least the members and friends of Anger In Chicago, was a good old fashioned local chapter get together.
To start 2004 off right and speak to one another and catch up post holidays. This MetClub Headquarters mandated “Unnamed Feeling Single Release Party” had to happen. Everyone enjoyed “The Unnamed Thing,” as improperly labeled, video a few times, chowed on some pizza and gabbed all night about Metallica and other things that we all love. We gave out a couple of small but very limited Metallica swag prizes as provided by MetClub Headquarters through raffles, jammed to the 1997 third night in Chicago Load concert on video and a really early vid from Jason Newsted’s second show ever in 1986.
After all that, (most) all the Anger In Chicago members gathered around the chapter-head and listened in awe to our stories of Metallica in Las Vegas on New Years Eve. The Scary-Guy that was scheduled to appear once again skipped over our HQ. Oh well, there is always hope for a bigger and better Febuary Edition of Anger In Chicago coming everyone’s way Saturday, February 28th. Maybe the Scary-Guy will find time in his busy schedule of head-banging for a long overdue visit. Stay tuned for more…

Our November Chapter Edition took place on Saturday, November 22nd.
Saturday, November 22nd. The current edition of Anger In Chicago, the city’s only local chapter of the Metallica Fan Club, got together at HQ and had a meeting, party, get together. Whatever you want to call it, it was what it was. A group of people, young and mature, that love Metallica enough to dedicate an evening of their lives once a month to get together and enjoy the greatest band in the world. The November Edition, as we call it, was pushed back from an October Edition that we could not get put together for many reasons. Eleven very active people, I am learning, is very challenging to coordinate on a monthly basis. We were all pleased to be together, no matter the number, because we continue to do what the intentions of this club are. We promote the spirit of Metallica and cultivate relationships with those who love the band as much as we do. We get together socially with each other on an informal basis as well as formally as members of the club chapter of Anger In Chicago.
Here’s what took place: We first took time to recap what had been going on with the band recently in the forms of video from the American Music Awards and a very long pre-show interview from the small Ballroom performance in New York City. Then came time for some footage of some shows from the early spring outdoor festivals in Europe. We enjoyed a bootleg from near the stage of the June 1st Castle Donnington Festival in London, England, followed by a 2 hour MTV Europe shot of the June, 8th Nuremburg, Germany Rock AM Ring festival. During the videos we had really cool new Metallica swag prizes raffles and of course eating and drinking throughout. We of course had some semblance of an official local chapter meeting by discussing business. We put forward a proposal for a new way of ordering Anger In Chicago t-shirts and other merchandise involving an online vendor that would take our submitted designs and apply them to any product we chose and produce them upon individual request. Very cool idea indeed.
During which what is surely my favorite part of these nights, the after video discussions we get into with one another, an original founding member showed up with his acoustic guitar. We ended the night by being treated to just about any Metallica song you could think of, most notably Nothing Else Matters as well as Last Caress, being performed live with the occasional member attempting to accompany with bold attempts at singing. All in all a very metal little get together before Thanksgiving. Thanks to everyone that participated in November and I hope to see everyone in December or January.
